Required Documents

 

For filing a PCT application in Oman, the following list of documents are required:

  • A Power of Attorney executed in the name of the applicant duly verified by the Apostille or legalized up to the Consulate of Oman or by the Consulate of any Arab country in the case that an Omani consulate is not present.

 

  • A Deed of Assignment executed by the inventor(s) assigning their patent rights to the applicant. This document should be verified by the Apostille or legalized up to Consulate of Oman or by the Consulate of any Arab country in the case that an Omani consulate is not present.

 

  • Commercial registration or a good standing certificate including all relevant information.

 

  • Two copies of the specification in English and Arabic prepared exactly as follows:
  1. The abstract: Including the inventor(s) name, applicant name, technical field of the invention, brief description of the invention, and a brief description of the drawings, if any (not exceeding one page – 200 words to be published in official gazette).
  2. Full description of the invention.
  3. Claims.
  4. Drawings (if any).

 

  • For the publication in the Official Gazette: In about 200 words, a brief description of the invention and the new claims for which the protection is requested. This description should be separate from the application; and should include the following:
  1. The name of the inventor and the applicant (if different from the inventor) and the addresses for both of them.
  2. An abstract of the specifications of the invention, the claims whose protection is sought and any illustrative drawings associated with it. This summary must indicate the technical or scientific field of the invention and give a clear idea of the technical problem, the essence of its solution and the main uses of the invention.
